Members Choice Providers

Alfredton Dental are Members Choice Providers for HCF, NIB & Defence Health.

What does this mean for you?

If you are a member with HCF, NIB or defence health we are committed to charge a discounted rate of all dental treatment as agreed upon with the health provider. You will also receive your maximum rebate at each appointment and only be charged a gap fee, where limits apply. Depending on your level of cover and membership terms, you also may be eligible to receive a gap free routine examination and dental clean every six months. Please contact your health provider or view their terms and conditions for more information.

Veteran Affairs

Bulk billing options are available for all Gold Card holders. In some cases White Card holders with preapproval from the DVA may also be eligible for treatment.

The DVA dental program provides eligible clients with access to a comprehensive suite of dental services including:

  • preventive treatment such as examinations and cleaning
  • simple treatment such as fillings and extractions
  • complex treatment such as crowns, bridges, implants and dentures
  • emergency treatment following unforeseen injuries

In most cases you won’t need to pay for your dental treatment. However, an Annual Monetary Limit (AML) does apply for certain high cost items such as some bridges and crowns. If your high cost items exceed the AML of $2,643.25 per calendar year, you may need to make a co-payment.

You are exempt from the AML and don’t need to make any co-payments if:

  • you are an ex-prisoner of war (POW)
  • the treatment is for an accepted service-related injury or condition; or
  • the treatment is for malignant cancer that affects your teeth or jaw

Medicare

Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS)

We provide Bulk Billing for dental treatments under the Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS) to eligible children.

Is my child eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule commenced on 1 January 2014 and provides access to benefits for basic dental services to children aged 2-17 years. At the beginning of 2014, the Australian Government sent out letters to eligible children and their families that they may be eligible for the CDBS benefits.

The total benefit entitlement is capped at $1,000 per child over a two calendar year period. The CDBS has a means test, which requires receipt of Family Tax Benefit Part A (FTB-A) or a relevant Australian Government payment.

The CDBS provides individual benefits for a range of services including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. Benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and cannot be paid for any services provided in a hospital.
